Program Director
Marianne joined JMI in February 2023 as Program Director after more than 20 years working in the public sector. Marianne served as the Director of Pretrial Services in Thurston County, Washington; the first person to fill this role since the department was established by Thurston County. She served as a Washington State representative on the National Association of Pretrial Service Agencies Northwest Regional Counsel and was appointed to the National Institute of Corrections’ Pretrial Executive Network. Marianne has over 15 years of experience in program development, implementation and evaluation in the criminal justice system, including pretrial services, diversion, reentry, and therapeutic courts. She served on steering committees to improve access to behavioral health, especially for those involved in the criminal justice system to include establishing a free mental health clinic, supporting Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion development and opioid response. She has also worked in community mental health, managing an inpatient Evaluation and Treatment Unit and the Involuntary Treatment Act hearing operations. Over ten years ago, Marianne began lecturing at the University of Washington, Tacoma for the School of Social Work and Criminal Justice. Marianne has been a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker since 2014 and a Certified Corrections Healthcare Professional since 2005, earning the Mental Health certification in 2015. She is Master of Social Work graduate of University of Washington, Tacoma, and received her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Women’s Studies, magna cum laude, from St. Martin’s University.
