Terrance Cheung
Program Director
Terrance joined JMI in April 2022 as a Program Director and brings more than 20 years of experience in the public sector. Before joining JMI, Terrance was the Director of Planning, Research and Evaluation at the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County where he led a team of program evaluators and research analysts at both Superior Court and Juvenile Court. He helped plan and launch the court’s pre-charging drug diversion program – one of the first in the nation. Prior to that, he was the Director of Justice Reform Initiatives at Pima County Administration where headed many efforts to reduce jail overcrowding including law enforcement deflection, drug court diversion, permanent supportive housing, reentry, and tribal and community engagement. Earlier in his career, Terrance was Chief of Staff to two elected officials in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was also a founding member of Richmond Youth Student Empowerment (RYSE) and the Family Justice Alliance in Contra Costa County, California. Terrance holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television from San Francisco State University and worked as a television reporter in the San Francisco market. Terrance is a member of the National Judicial Task Force’s Criminal Justice Workgroup and is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from Arizona State University.
